Labour to seek 'much better' Brexit deal

Starmer promises to rewrite 2019 agreement in 2025 if party wins election

Sir Keir Starmer has said he will seek a much better Brexit deal with the EU if Labour wins the next general election.

The Labour leader said he would start talks with the EU in 2025, two years after the next election is due to take place.

He said Labour's plan would deliver a "better deal for working people", by boosting trade and protecting jobs.

The government said Labour's plan was "unworkable" and would damage the UK's economy.

The EU has said it is open to discussing changes to the Brexit deal, but only if they are "acceptable to both sides".
