All Eyes on Eakins as Oilers Prepare for New Season

Former Toronto Coach Takes Helm in Edmonton

Silfverberg Eager to Impress New Boss

The Edmonton Oilers are entering a new era with former Toronto Maple Leafs coach Dallas Eakins at the helm. After spending the past two full seasons and part of a third as the Leafs' head coach, Eakins has been tasked with turning around the fortunes of a struggling Oilers franchise.

One player who is particularly eager to impress Eakins is forward Jakob Silfverberg. The 26-year-old Swede had a disappointing season in 2015-16, scoring just 13 goals and 29 points in 82 games. Silfverberg knows that he needs to step up his game in order to earn a regular spot in Eakins' lineup.

"I'm really excited to work with Coach Eakins," said Silfverberg. "He's a great coach and I'm confident that he can help me take my game to the next level. I'm looking forward to working hard and proving myself to him."

Eakins has been impressed with what he has seen from Silfverberg so far. The coach praised the forward's work ethic and his willingness to learn.

"Jakob is a hard-working player who is always looking to improve," said Eakins. "He's a good skater and he has a great shot. I'm excited to see what he can do this season."

The Oilers are scheduled to open their regular season on October 12th against the Calgary Flames. It will be interesting to see how Silfverberg and the rest of the Oilers perform under Eakins' leadership.
